VISITS TO BREEDERS OF THE ALBERA RACE COW

Visit (La Garrotxa, November 21, 2016). We have visited two breeders of the race Albera cow in the region of La Garrotxa. We have also carried out two meetings with the head of the Cattlemen’s Association of the Albera Cow. With all of them, the characteristics of the cow have been discussed, both at the production and management level, as well as its suitability or not in a project such as POLYFARMING. In general, it is a very rustic cow that is capable of living within the forest, but with productive parameters that do not make it especially suitable for intensive management systems on a small scale. This has caused that it was discarded finally as race of cow in the project.
